Located at Broad and Bainbridge Streets, the Strand Ballroom was managed by legendary dance promoter Reese DuPree in the 1930s and ‘40s.
In 1938, Bill Doggett and his orchestra played here every Tuesday to Saturday.

Great site. Looking for info on Reese Dupree for a book about the History of Music in Macon, GA, where he was from. That photo you posted looks like a newspaper clipping. Do you know what paper? I have a lot of clippings on Dupree but none so far have that particular photo. Thanks for reading this unsolicited inquiry.
